Counselling and Life Coaching with Mahita

Take the first step towards healing, wholeness and the discovery of your life’s true purpose…

The last three years have, for most of us, been a profoundly unsettling experience. It may have been a time of increased anxiety and stress; of feelings of isolation, spiritual crisis or deepening depression. The period of the pandemic was followed by a period of adaptation, which included a deep, global economic crisis, and generalised political unrest around the world. Unfortunately, the situation does not seem to be improving as yet. All this turmoil might have prompted reflection and questioning: How can I cope during this challenging period, and the uncertainty and anxiety that it is causing me? How can I dig myself out of this hole? Why do I struggle so much in my relationships, and at work? How can I change my life to be better suited for these times of crisis? How do I make a difference? What is my life’s purpose and meaning?

I invite you to book an Introductory Session, to find out more about each other, and the reasons why you are seeking support. During the session I will explain my theraputic approach to you, and propose initial steps for the early stages of our work together. You will also have an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about the Counselling and Life Coaching process, and we can agree on the best way forward.

Whether the challenges and issues you’re facing are long-term and ongoing or they’ve bubbled to the surface because of recent events, I’m here to help. The fact that you’ve found your way here tells me that you’ve decided that enough is enough; that the moment has come to change things for the better, find your true purpose and live a happier, more meaningful life.

My Approach

As a Counsellor and Life Coach specialising in Psychosynthesis Psychology, I’m here to help you overcome a range of mental and emotional issues and fulfil your potential in all areas of your life. My approach to both counselling and life coaching is integrative and holistic, with a transpersonal perspective; a belief that the spiritual dimension of human beings is central to our identity and purpose in life. I offer sessions both face-to-face and online, in English, French, Spanish and Arabic (you can read more about my story here).

My aspiration is to build a meaningful, transformative and positive connection with you. I want to help you live a life that serves you, your loved ones and the world around you; a life that's authentic, compassionate and constructive. By uncovering and connecting with your own vision of what you want out of life, you will be able to stand in your light and power, living joyfully and in the present tense.

Where appropriate, I will draw on complementary approaches in our work together, from art, movement, role-playing, writing, journaling and guided meditation to inner dialogue, dream-work, somatic experiencing, chakra opening and balancing and Reiki. Whatever form our work together takes, it will help you become more grounded; able to take stock of your life’s journey so far. Having made better sense of your past, you’ll be more present, engaged and hopeful, living each day more intentionally – in alignment with your heart’s desire and your vision.

I’m here to support you in your journey of personal healing, so why not contact me to arrange a free introductory session to learn more about my counselling and life coaching approach and ask any questions you might have?

About Me

Exposed to war, displacement, insecurity and instability from a young age, I quickly understood that nothing in life could be taken for granted, and that survival in ever-changing circumstances demanded inner strength, resilience and adaptability. I learned to tune into and follow my instincts, practicing self-compassion when times were tough or things didn’t work out as I’d hoped.

My Lebanese/Spanish cultural background, my exposure to widely differing cultural, social and economic contexts, and my experience of living in many countries around the world (including Germany, the UK, Spain, Cyprus, Lebanon, the UAE and Tunisia), have all served to enhance my natural openness and understanding. They’ve also helped me to see difference as a strength; something to be cherished, protected and celebrated.
Coming from a family of visual artists and musicians, culture and the arts have always been central to my life. Studying archaeology (BA) at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon deepened my understanding of humanity’s history, complex cultures and varied means of social expression. It also, by extension, deepened my understanding of myself. I went on to study art and culture policy and management (MA) at City University in London, UK, which led to a 20-year international career as a curator and cultural design, policy and management specialist. (This involved working with organisations such as the Guggenheim Foundation, the Louvre and the Institute of International Visual Arts, as well as with a wide range of cultural authorities and entities in Asia, Europe and the Americas.)

My growing interest in the human condition eventually led me to study psychosynthesis psychology, psychotheraputic counselling and life coaching at the Institute of Psychosynthesis and Middlesex University in London, UK. A member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy, I now bring my whole self to my practice as a Counsellor and Life Coach, from my childhood experiences to my career in the Arts and International Cultural Strategy and Management; from my studies in psychotherapy to my passion for holistic healing and spiritual growth.

By working with you on your healing and personal development, my desire is to help you get in touch with your true self, so you can live a life of self-expression and self-actualisation, achieving your purpose in life and serving the world around you.

Psychosynthesis Counselling

Psychosynthesis is a spiritual and holistic approach to psychology, which helps you take stock of your past and engage with difficult dimensions of your childhood and challenging phases of your life. A profound and positive therapy, psychosynthesis counselling is focused on growth and development, leading to better self-understanding and the discovery of greater meaning and purpose in life.

What makes psychosynthesis uniquely powerful is that it serves the emergent part of you, helping you to recognise and express this dimension in yourself and, increasingly, bring it to life. So, while it is a reparative therapeutic practice, it can also be seen as a progressive one as it unlocks your highest potential and opens up new possibilities in your life.

Many issues can benefit from psychosynthesis therapy, including trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, bereavement and loss, lack of confidence, direction or purpose, and middle-aged, identity or spiritual crises. Psychosynthesis is an effective approach for deepening self-awareness, understanding and compassion and for exploring the inner and outer reaches of your Self.

At a basic level, it is a type of talking therapy, developed out of psychoanalysis by pioneering Italian psychiatrist (and student of Freud) Roberto Assagioli. Through introspection and empathic self-exploration, you gain personal insight, moving towards understanding, self-compassion, healing, growth and development and away from self-sabotage, destructive behaviours, unhelpful mindsets and internal conflicts.

In my practice, I use guided imagery, symbolic artwork, intuitive writing, journaling and meditation to aid your introspection, deep connection, realisation and expression. While acknowledging and working with the pain and suffering inherent in personal history and in the human condition, psychosynthesis also illuminates and facilitates our human ability to create harmony, wholesomeness, and full self-expression in every aspect of our lives. This orientation towards health and potential (rather than towards pathology) makes it a profoundly positive and hopeful approach to human development, one that is capable of unlocking life-enhancing transformation in individuals and in groups.

Psychosynthesis Life Coaching

In our life coaching sessions, I will work with you to unlock your potential and help you create a life of meaning, abundance and contribution. My focus will be on helping you uncover and explore your goals, and on the planning and actions needed to manifest them. We can address any aspect of your life that you want to tackle and bring real change to: matters pertaining to your professional or personal life, your health or your relationships…

While we may touch on earlier life psychological and emotional dimensions that may be blocking your progress, the main focus of our work together will be on your future and its potential; on manifesting your emerging life purpose. This will free up your energy so your consciousness and willpower can be aligned and galvanised to intentionally create the life that you wish for.

"Mahita’s engagement, analysis, intuition and care make me take account of what is closest to my heart, untangling things and clearing my path of obstacles. I greatly benefited from her coaching and feel renewed".

Edd Higgins - Child Behavioural Specialist and Transpersonal Counsellor

"I sought help from Mahita after feeling frustrated and tired of being in an underpaid job, and struggling to find a meaningful new role for myself in the world. Over our sessions together she really helped me to unpack what I wanted and look closely at what was stopping me from getting it. This process helped me to understand myself in my business and my personal life, particularly in terms of what I find difficult and why. It was very personal and bespoke, and each week I felt a genuine sense of progress and learned, with Mahita's help, to recognise this more intimately within myself and by myself. Mahita creates a very special space in which you can safely explore your inner world, providing a soulful way to try to achieve your goals and dreams".

Indigo Konrad - Ballet Dancer

"I was curious to experience psychosynthesis as a therapeutic approach during a stage of my life when I felt things were changing and I wanted to be an active participant in the transition. Mahita provided a reassuring and calm environment and guided the process with empathy and clarity. A special skill of hers is to articulate the nuances of experience which I found helped to illuminate what was more difficult to perceive. This is lifelong work and I’ll continue to practice what I learned with Mahita".
